Brewing Guide: AeroPress
The AeroPress is a great device for traveling or making coffee by the cup at home. This device makes coffee concentrate that has a texture all its own somewhere between french press and Chemex. We will show how to make a strong concentrate that can be altered according to taste using hot water. For our purposes we will show the “inverted” brewing method in this demonstration.

Step OneGrind coffee between a drip and espresso grind. You can play around with the grind a bit to get a desired strength. Just be careful the finer you go the more bitterness you may find in the cup, but if you go too course you may not capture all the aromas from the coffee. |

Step TwoSet up AeroPress with plunger insterted just enough to create a seal, and place upside down on counter. Measure ground coffee into press. In this demonstration we are going to make enough coffee concentrate for two, eight ounce “americanos”. Pour coffee grounds into the AeroPress using the supplied funnel. We used 35 grams of ground coffee, you can adjust according to your preferences. |

Step ThreeBe sure to rinse filter well under running water. This will help reduce the bleached papery taste from seeping into your coffee. |

Step FourSlowly pour hot water (should be just under 200 degrees) over coffee grounds, being sure to saturate all the grounds. Allow coffee to bloom. If you are using a freshly roasted coffee be careful as the bloom may become too big and overflow the AeroPress. Start your start-up timer if you are using one. |

Step FiveAfter the bloom settles for a few seconds, take the paddle and gently stir coffee and water. Be careful to not over stir as it may cause overextraction. Allow coffee to brew for approximately 45 seconds. |
