Stacie Berry (Sep ‘08)

A designer and artist, originally from Nashville, Stacie uses a custom hieroglyphic-type vocabulary to represent historical depictions of structured abstract illustrations based on personal life stories, music and pop culture.

Her first series, developed in 2004 draws inspiration from live musical performances of local bands – influenced by lighting, rhythm, lyrics, wardrobe and energy of the crowd.

Stacie’s second series introduces an original spin to visual abstract story-telling. Focusing on how every detail is important to the overall context and development of a story.

Stacie’s current series embodies bitter-sweetness to visually communicate circumstances that sometimes can’t be expressed verbally, to honor individuals with remarkable stories and spark inspiration.

Her lyrical and whimsical paintings represent captured moments in time and her distinct style is carried throughout the collection.

Kelly Parsons (July – August ‘08)

Kelly J Parsons Photography is owned and operated by Kelly, a native of Florida who recently found a new home in Nashville, TN. She strives to be relaxed but professional, creative and fun whenever she is shooting. After photographing many people since she began her business in 2006, she has developed the ability to capture the essence of her clients by giving them a comfortable environment to let their guard down. Many will come to Kelly saying they are not very photogenic but Kelly simply replies with a smile, “That’s because I wasn’t the one taking the photos.” Kelly believes there is beauty and art in everyone she photographs, whether close to the surface or somewhat hidden, and she captures that through the lens. Everyone wants their photos to be distinct. Kelly’s artistic take on  photography produces just those kind of memories.

Fresh. Creative. Original.

J.K. Lee (May ‘08)

J. K. (Janet) Lee dropped out of art class in the eighth grade because she wanted to be a writer. Years later, after graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in English, working for more than a decade in the publishing industry, and marrying novelist Mike Lee, Janet found her way back to art. Currently she works in watercolor and ink, decoupaging elements into disparate backgrounds, often in other media. Janet finds that this style both plays to her love of all things graphic, and allows her to work around her active four-year-old Ethan.

Janet also designs pendants which her talented sister, K. Pack, turns into beautiful necklaces. Most recently, she is trying her hand at puppet making.
