About this coffee

When asked about coffees from the South Pacific, most immediately rattle off ‘Sumatra’. But, the time has come to let Sumatran coffees go and open up our minds and hearts to Papua New Guinea. It has often been an under-appreciated coffee growing region and we hope that the Bebes will change your mind.

One reason why coffees from Indonesia and Oceania get overlooked, especially by the specialty coffee community, is that they are often poorly processed leading to a chalky body and a bitter, unpleasant finish.

Enter: Bebes.

Clean, fruity and complex are usually descriptors reserved for the finest Gesha, but this stand-out coffee from PNG has all three. As you take your first sip, juicy raspberry and lime hit your tongue pleasantly and give way to the sweetness of fresh apricot. Never fear, the Bebes doesn’t leave behind its classic region characteristics (rich, full bodied), it just does so with greater precision.

We think this coffee is approachable to every kind of coffee drinker. We also don’t source many coffees from the South Pacific so, drink up while you can!

Brewing Recommendation

Bebes’ juicy fruit quality shines in the Kalita, which provides a great balance of body and brightness. Try it in the French press to accentuate the rich body that this region is known for. For proper extraction of the French Press, add an additional 2 grams of coffee per 12 ounce cup. (425 grams water, 27 grams of coffee)
