About this coffee

This is the time of year when we'll do just about anything in our quest for refreshment: drink gallons of water; do cannonballs into the Pinewood Social pool; dump buckets of coffee soda on our heads. To some, hot coffee would be the last thing on the brain. But this coffee -- from the Estrella Del Ostro co-op mill in Huila, Colombia -- is cool and juicy enough to refresh on even the hottest Tennessee days.

Estrella Del Ostro offers itself as an inviting salve to the heat. Curiously cupping like a Kenyan coffee, the Estrella bursts with flavors of tropical fruits and the richness of tomato.

A beautiful acidity combines with the rich tropical fruit for maximum refreshment.  And on the tongue, this palate refresher splashes with pineapple, sweet and thrillingly juicy. This Colombian standout boasts a rich brown sugar-like body, and bids farewell with a pleasing kiwi tartness.

This coffee shines when filter brewed: we suggest the Chemex. Generally, filter brewing produces better coffee clarity (ability to tell flavors apart) than body (texture, weight in your mouth) and we love this coffee's clarity.
