About this coffee

In Spanish, guayabales essentially means a ‘place where guayabana trees grow’. (Not so) coincidentally, this farm in Guatemala is surrounded by trees bearing guayabana fruit.

You may have seen the research linking the fruit, guayabana (or soursop), to killing cancer. While we can’t link this coffee to killing cancer, we think you will fall in love with it all the same. This farm is owned by the Villatoro Family, who we have worked with the past few years. And each year they provide another stunning selection from their coffee farms.

The Guayabales stands out not because it’s flashy, but because it is so perfectly balanced. The juicy sweetness of raspberry jam complements the rich dark chocolate body as the orange zest acidity provides a delicate high note to round this coffee out.

This Guatemalan coffee comes just in time for the holidays, and we can’t think of any better way to start your cold December mornings.

Brewing Recommendation

Because of its versatility and balance, the Guayabales tastes great in practically everything from French press to Chemex. We like the Kalita because it accentuates the balance this coffee has to offer.
